Battenberg Mausoleum, Monument on Vasil Levski Boulevard in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The Battenberg Mausoleum stands 11 meters tall and covers 80 square meters, featuring eclectic architecture that combines Neo-Baroque and Neoclassical elements with a distinctive copper dome.
Constructed in 1897 by Swiss architect Hermann Mayer, the mausoleum was built to house the remains of Prince Alexander I of Bulgaria, who died in exile in Graz, Austria in 1893.
The interior decoration was created by renowned Bulgarian artist Haralampi Tachev, whose paintings and artistic elements reflect the national symbols and pride of late 19th-century Bulgaria.
Located at 81 Vasil Levski Boulevard near Sofia University, the mausoleum is open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and can be reached by public transportation or personal vehicle.
The mausoleum houses personal possessions and documents of Prince Alexander I that were donated by his wife Johanna Loisinger in 1937, providing rare insights into his private life.
