Pyasachnik Reservoir, Stausee in Bulgarien
Pyasachnik Reservoir is a large body of water in the Gornotrakian Plain of northwestern Bulgaria, located about 35 kilometers from Plovdiv. The reservoir covers approximately 9 square kilometers and can hold over 200 million cubic meters of water, situated between the villages of Belovitsa and Lyuben.
The reservoir was built decades ago to support water supply for nearby communities and agricultural areas around the region. It has remained a vital resource for the area ever since.
The site is easily accessible by local roads and offers various spots for visitors to enjoy. Spring and summer are the best times to visit when the weather is warm and outdoor activities are most appealing.
In 2009 a world record was set at the reservoir when a white amur weighing nearly 40 kilograms was caught by a fisherman. This achievement drew the attention of anglers from around the world to the waters.
