Indipasha

Indipasha is an ancient megalithic sanctuary located in a deep valley within the Strandja Mountain region, surrounded by dense beech forest and rocky slopes. A powerful spring with clear water flows here and forms the focal point where visitors gather.

The sanctuary dates to ancient times, over 2000 years ago, when Thracian priests conducted ceremonies at this sacred location. Water and milk held central roles in their ritual practices.

The name honors a local saint, and visitors experience the place as a site of personal intention where cloth offerings are tied to express wishes. This practice shows how spiritual belief and the natural landscape are deeply connected in daily experience.

The site draws large crowds especially around the fifth day after Easter, when many visitors gather together. The forest path is natural and can be muddy, so sturdy shoes and warm layers are helpful for a comfortable visit.

The spring water has a composition similar to distilled water, which makes it effective for treating eye conditions in visitors. This unusual chemical property was completely unknown in earlier times and continues to be studied.
