Whiteshell Provincial Park, Provincial park in eastern Manitoba, Canada.
Whiteshell Provincial Park is a protected area in eastern Manitoba featuring numerous lakes and rivers interspersed with rocky granite outcrops characteristic of the Canadian Shield. Black spruce forests cover most of the landscape, creating a dense boreal woodland environment throughout the region.
The area became a protected provincial park in 1961 when Manitoba established it to conserve the natural landscape while allowing public recreation. This designation reflected efforts to balance resource protection with community access during that era.
The extensive network of trails includes the Top of the World Trail Loops, Pine Point Trail, and Falcon South Shore Trail for hiking and outdoor exploration.
Visitors can choose from campsites, log cabins, and resorts at various lakes, including a hotel at Falcon Lake where amenities are available. Summer and early autumn offer the most comfortable visiting conditions with warm weather and good trail access.
The park contains around 200 lakes where anglers regularly fish for northern pike, bass, walleye, lake trout, and rainbow trout year-round. This abundance of fishing opportunities draws people interested in catching fish in a remote boreal setting.
