Esterhazy Flour Mill

The Esterhazy Flour Mill is a wooden grain processing building that combines milling equipment with an integrated elevator system. The structure displays traditional joinery methods and retains its original mechanical components from when it first operated.

James Saunders built this mill between 1904 and 1907 using a Hungarian patent design. It became one of Saskatchewan's key grain facilities and was eventually recognized as a heritage site.

This mill reflects how grain processing shaped life in Saskatchewan and connected local farmers to wider markets. Walking through the building, you can sense the importance this facility held for the community and its economy.

The building is open to visitors by appointment, with tours typically available during warmer months. It is advisable to contact the local information center or town office before visiting to confirm access and arrange a time.

It is the only complete grain mill with an integrated elevator system still standing in Saskatchewan. Few buildings of this type retain both the milling machinery and the elevator mechanism in their original wooden structure.
