Kenosee Lake

Kenosee Lake is a lake and resort village in Saskatchewan located within a provincial park. The water body spans a large area with several islands and provides swimming beaches, fishing spots, and trails for visitors to explore.

The lake was originally called Fish Lake but received a new name in the early 1930s to honor Indigenous terminology. This change reflected growing recognition of the region's first peoples.

The two dance halls in the village show how entertainment evolved over time in the region. People gathered in these buildings for social occasions, and both remain as reminders of how communities once spent their leisure time.

The location is easy to reach and offers activities throughout the year both on and near the water. Visitors should prepare for different conditions depending on the season, as winter brings very different experiences than warmer months.

Beavers were introduced to the area in the 1920s, which unexpectedly changed water levels over time. The community later had to step in to manage the environmental effects of this introduction.
