Spectrum, Concert hall in Downtown Montreal, Canada
Spectrum was a concert hall in downtown Montreal housed in a four-story building with a central stage and tiered seating around it. The venue could accommodate up to 1200 spectators across different levels facing the performance area.
The building opened in 1952 as the Alouette Theatre and underwent several name changes before becoming Spectrum in 1982. It closed its doors in 2007 after decades of hosting live music in the city.
The venue served as a gathering place for music fans and attracted performers across multiple genres. The cabaret-style setup with tables allowed audiences to dine and socialize while enjoying live performances.
The location was at 318 Sainte-Catherine Street West in downtown Montreal. Visitors should note that the venue no longer operates and the building now houses different uses.
The interior featured hundreds of small light bulbs installed on the walls that glowed in varied patterns. This distinctive lighting design created a special environment and was an immediate visual signature of the space.
