Zec du Chapeau-de-Paille

The Zec du Chapeau-de-Paille spans 1,270 square kilometers of forest land, featuring numerous lakes, rivers, and diverse wildlife populations throughout its territory.

Established in 1978, the reserve gained its name from Lake Chapeau de Paille, which displays a distinctive straw hat shape when viewed from above.

The reserve maintains Quebec's outdoor heritage through regulated fishing and hunting activities, managed by Association Nature Inc under provincial guidelines.

Visitors can access various accommodations including micro-chalets, camping sites, and ready-to-camp facilities, with essential amenities such as sanitation blocks and fire pits.

The territory connects multiple natural reserves, creating an extensive network that includes Zec du Gros-Brochet, Zec Wessonneau, and La Mauricie National Park.
