7 Rideau Gate, Official guest house in Ottawa, Canada.

7 Rideau Gate is a two-story house featuring Victorian architectural elements and serves as an official guest residence in Ottawa. The building is surrounded by maintained gardens and contains traditional furnishings along with a collection of artworks for state functions.

The house was built in 1862 as a private residence and changed hands multiple times before becoming a government property in 1966. This transformation made it a venue for state receptions and official ceremonies.

The residence is named after its location on Rideau Gate and now serves as a reception space for distinguished visitors. Inside, you can see furnishings and artworks selected specifically for official functions and state ceremonies.

The residence is located near Rideau Hall and forms part of the official government buildings in the capital. Visitors should note that access is limited and only possible during special occasions or designated tours.

The residence temporarily housed the Governor General in 2017 during renovations of the main residence next door. This was a rare instance when the guest house stepped out of its traditional role to serve as a temporary dwelling.
