Korean War Memorial Wall, War memorial in Brampton, Ontario, Canada
The Korean War Memorial Wall is a war memorial at Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton, Ontario, bearing the names of 516 Canadian service members who died during the Korean War. It is built from gray Barre granite and consists of a central block flanked by two curved wings that follow the natural shape of the ground.
The memorial was unveiled on July 27, 1997, following a fundraising effort led by the Korea Veterans Association of Canada with support from private donors. The date was chosen to mark the anniversary of the 1953 armistice that ended the fighting.
The central panels carry military insignias and written tributes, while bronze plaques on the sides are arranged in a way that recalls gravestones. Visitors can walk along the wall and read the names of the fallen soldiers in a setting that feels personal rather than ceremonial.
The memorial sits within Meadowvale Cemetery and is easy to reach on foot once inside the grounds. The curved shape of the wall means you can read the inscriptions from several angles as you walk along it.
The two side wings are angled backward, giving the memorial a profile that looks quite different depending on where you stand. Walking around it reveals a shape that changes noticeably with each step.
