Kekerten Territorial Park

The park spans across Kekerten Island, featuring natural rock formations along the coastline and offering views of the Arctic Ocean waters.

British and American whale hunters established a station in 1840, marking the beginning of commercial whaling operations in the northern waters.

The preserved structures of storehouses and whaling ship remains demonstrate the connection between Inuit knowledge and maritime activities of the 19th century.

Visitors reach the park through a three-hour boat journey from Pangnirtung during summer or by snowmobile across winter ice conditions.

The park contains physical evidence of the whaling era with remnants of structures situated at coordinates 65°42′N latitude and 65°49′W longitude.
