Prescott House Museum, Georgian house museum in Starr's Point, Nova Scotia, Canada.
Prescott House Museum is a Georgian-style residence in Starr's Point that features period furnishings, antique objects, and imported Oriental carpets arranged throughout restored rooms. The interior preserves the original layout and shows how the house appeared during its active years as a family home.
Charles Ramage Prescott built the estate between 1812 and 1816 as both a residence and a testing ground for agricultural innovations. His work with apple varieties and modern farming techniques made it a center for rural advancement in the region.
The house shows how prosperous families in Nova Scotia lived during the 1800s through family portraits, hand-stitched samplers, and period decorative items that reveal domestic tastes and daily customs.
The house sits on Starr's Point Road accessed from Highway 101 Exit 11, with visits available from June through October. Guided tours run Wednesday through Sunday, and it is wise to check ahead for holiday closures or any seasonal changes.
In 1931 the house was rescued from decay when Mary Allison Prescott, a great-granddaughter of the original builder, began restoring it alongside her sisters. Their dedication preserved the property and returned it to its original condition for visitors to experience today.
