Storyland, Children's amusement park in Horton Township, Canada.
Storyland was an amusement park in Horton Township, Ontario, featuring recreated fairy tale scenes, a mini-golf course, water features, and various children's rides spread across its grounds. Attractions were distributed throughout the property to give young visitors different activities in one location.
The park was founded in 1966 by Dutch immigrants Durk and Bonnie Heyda, beginning with a windmill and story scenes for hikers near Champlain Lookout. It operated seasonal activities until closure after the 2011 season.
Staff members performed in costumes of fairy tale characters, creating interactive experiences through shows and entertainment for young visitors.
The park was located along Storyland Road near Renfrew and was accessible during summer months. Visitors should be aware that the property no longer operates as an amusement park and has since been repurposed for different use.
Costumed performers staged fairy tale shows and entertainment acts that actively involved young visitors in the experience. These performances gave the park its distinctive character as a destination for children.
