Kingswood Music Theatre, Outdoor amphitheatre at Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Canada
Kingswood Music Theatre was an outdoor amphitheatre inside Canada's Wonderland amusement park in Vaughan, Ontario. It had a covered bandshell stage and open lawn sections around it, giving audiences the choice to sit under the roof or on the grass.
The theatre opened in 1983 as part of Canada's Wonderland and was built to bring large-scale live music to the park from the start. It ran for more than three decades before closing with its final concert in 2019, after which the structure was taken down.
For many visitors, attending a show here was a natural part of a day at the park rather than a separate outing. The open lawn area gave the venue a relaxed, festival-like feel that set it apart from a typical indoor concert hall.
Since the venue was inside Canada's Wonderland, entry to shows was generally tied to the park ticket, and guests could walk over from other attractions without leaving the grounds. Concerts took place during the park's main season, so visiting in summer gave the best chance of catching a performance.
The venue hosted the very last edition of the original Lollapalooza touring festival in 1996, marking the end of that traveling format. The festival was then put on hold for years before it returned as a fixed event in a completely different city.
