Time Warp, Steel roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland, Ontario, Canada
Time Warp is a steel roller coaster at Canada's Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario, with a bright yellow track running along turquoise supports. Riders travel face-down in enclosed metal cage cars with padded headrests and chin supports, passing through two inversions along the route.
The ride opened in 2004 as Tomb Raider: The Ride, complete with themed decorations including Chinese warrior figures and torches. The theming was later stripped away and the attraction reopened under its current name.
Time Warp sits in the Grande World Exposition of 1890 section of the park, an area designed to evoke a period when mechanical wonders drew large crowds. Visitors walking through this zone notice older-style signage and decoration that sets it apart from the rest of the park.
The face-down riding position can feel unusual, especially for those who are not used to this type of restraint, so it is worth knowing what to expect before joining the queue. Visiting on a weekday or outside peak summer months generally means shorter wait times.
The lift hill on this ride is a spiral rather than a straight ramp, which means riders rotate as they climb before the ride even begins. By the time they reach the top, they are already facing downward, and that position holds for the entire journey.
