The building was originally completed in 1975 as the Wittington Tower, designed by architect Leslie Rebanks. It earned multiple architectural awards upon completion, recognizing its innovative approach to tower design in the city.

The metal sculpture 'Sails' by Gord Smith decorates the base of the building since 1982, creating a striking contrast with the modern glass surfaces. This artwork gives the entrance an artistic character that sets it apart from purely commercial design.
