Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park, Provincial park in Timiskaming District, Canada.
Kap-Kig-Iwan Provincial Park is a wooded reserve in Timiskaming District where the Englehart River drops through a deep valley, forming several waterfalls and rapids. The terrain varies across different elevations, revealing different forest types and rocky sections with uncommon plant life.
The park was established in 1957 to protect the natural environment of the region. Its creation was part of a broader effort to preserve the diverse forest landscapes and geological features of Northern Ontario.
The park preserves natural elements of the Northern Clay Belt region, including rare plant species growing on Precambrian bedrock formations.
The park is most accessible between May and September when trails and camping facilities are fully open. Access is easiest from Highway 11, located south of Englehart.
The park contains three designated nature reserves with uncommon plant species that grow on ancient Precambrian rock formations. These specialized vegetation zones developed due to the unique soil composition and are rarely found together elsewhere in the province.
