Since measurements began in 1884, the glacier has reduced from 7.19 square kilometers to 2.8 square kilometers, indicating continuous environmental changes.
The glacier serves as both a natural water source for surrounding communities and a center for winter sports activities in the Swiss Alps.
Visitors access the glacier through the Scex Rouge station, with secured paths and snow buses operating for transportation across the terrain.
The 2017 discovery of preserved bodies from 1942 within the glacier demonstrates its capacity to maintain perfect preservation conditions for 75 years.
