Aussichtsturm Petersboden, Wooden observation tower in Rorbas, Zürich, Switzerland
Aussichtsturm Petersboden is a wooden observation tower near Rorbas that climbs to roughly 25 meters with a viewing platform at the top. A staircase of 137 steps and one intermediate landing lead visitors to views across the surrounding countryside.
The tower was built in 1978 by builder Walter Egg-Gattiker as a commemoration of his construction company's centennial milestone. The structure became a public landmark in the region following its completion.
Three panoramic information boards at the viewing platform provide details about the surrounding landscape, including views of the Rhine River and the Alps.
The tower can be reached by a roughly 15-minute walk on a maintained trail starting from the parking area near the top of Alte Bütbergstrasse. The path is clearly marked and leads steadily upward to the tower entrance.
From the platform you can spot the villages of Buchberg and Teufen to the north, while the south reveals the Alpen farm and parts of Bülach city spread across the plains. These varied views show how the landscape transitions from rural to more developed areas.
