Fiescheralp

Fiescheralp is a car-free mountain village and ski resort in Valais located on a high plateau with slopes ranging from 1845 to 2869 meters elevation. The terrain features wide beginner slopes, red and black runs for experienced skiers, and also cross-country trails and hiking paths for year-round use.

The area was developed as a ski destination in the mid-20th century when cable cars were first built to connect valley towns with the mountain plateau. The infrastructure expanded gradually, transforming it into a popular mountain resort for winter sports.

The village preserves Alpine culture through traditional mountain restaurants where visitors can try regional dishes and local cheese. The small lodges and inns scattered across the plateau reflect authentic mountain building styles that fit naturally into the landscape.

Visitors reach the village exclusively by cable cars from the valley, taking about 7 minutes and operating throughout the winter season. The place is completely car-free, so travelers should wear comfortable walking shoes and plan to carry their equipment up on the cable cars.

The resort sits right at the edge of the Great Aletsch Glacier, the largest glacier in the Alps. Skiers can see this massive glacier from the slopes and even travel alongside it on dedicated paths, creating an unforgettable experience.
