Kurhaus Bergün

Kurhaus Bergün is a hotel building from around 1906 located in a mountain valley at approximately 1,350 meters elevation, distinguished by its large dining hall featuring Art Nouveau elements. The original interior includes details such as period windows, wall decorations, and was equipped with modern conveniences like central heating and electric lighting.

Architect Jost-Franz Huwyler-Boller designed this hotel building in 1906 with advanced technical installations imported from England. Following a fire in 1949, the building was closed and later renovated, during which many original furnishings were preserved.

The restored dining room displays one of Switzerland's most complete Art Nouveau interiors, featuring original windows and wall coverings from the early 1900s. This space once served as the social heart where guests gathered for conversation and meals.

The location sits away from main traffic routes and requires some planning for arrival, though the surroundings offer quiet conditions for exploration. The grounds and interior spaces are easily accessible, and visitors will find accommodation options and an on-site restaurant.

A fire in 1949 destroyed parts of the building, including a small tower that was never rebuilt. The renovation preserved the dining hall and many of its original furnishings, making this space a rare example of intact early 20th-century interior decoration.
