The refuge was founded in 1891 and has long served as a base for mountaineers and hikers exploring the Alps. It continues to be an established place in the mountain landscape after more than 130 years of operation.
The refuge is run by volunteers who welcome hikers and climbers with simple hospitality and keep alive the traditions of mountain life. The gathering here follows the rhythm of nature and the seasons.
The refuge is reachable by hiking trails and offers accommodation for different seasons with varying room options. Visitors should prepare for basic conditions, as it is a mountain refuge with essential amenities only.
Near the shrinking Trift glacier, visitors can spot glacial markings and old moraines in the rock landscape while hiking. These traces reveal the power of ice age movements that shaped the valley.
