Fort Stöckli, Mountain fortress in Uri, Switzerland
Fort Stöckli stands at 2400 meters above sea level beneath Stock mountain, featuring artillery positions and observation towers facing the Oberalp Pass.
Following a federal resolution in 1893, this military structure was built with granite walls and equipped with 12-centimeter howitzers for territorial defense.
The fortress represents Swiss military engineering practices of the late 19th century, incorporating advanced defense systems and communication technologies.
The structure contains preserved barracks, shelters, and artillery positions that demonstrate military architectural elements from its operational period.
In 1905, the fort received a wireless telegraphy station with two fifty-meter antennas, attempting communication with Rigi-Scheidegg station.
