Mount Richard-Molard, Mountain summit at Guinea-Ivory Coast border, West Africa

Mount Richard-Molard extends across national boundaries, reaching an elevation of 1,752 meters with dense forests covering its slopes to create multiple ecological zones.

The mountain received its current name in 1951 after French geographer Jacques Richard-Molard, replacing its previous designation as Mount Nouon.

Local populations near the mountain maintain traditional practices, including specific ceremonies and customs connected to the natural features of the mountain.

The Mount Nimba Nature Reserve requires advance permits for visits, with guided tours available through local conservation organizations during dry seasons.

The mountain contains substantial deposits of iron ore and cobalt, while supporting over 2,000 plant species and 680 vertebrate species within its boundaries.
