Description
Liuzhou lies on both banks of the Liu River in a landscape of steep karst mountains. The city spreads across five urban districts in this mountainous terrain.
History
The settlement began as Tanzhong County around 111 BCE and gained prefecture status during the Tang Dynasty. By the Ming Dynasty, it had become a major trading center in the region.

The city is home to Han, Zhuang, Dong, Miao, Yao, Hui, Shui, and Mulam people, who celebrate their traditions throughout the year. This cultural diversity shapes the local festivities and daily rhythms across different neighborhoods.
