Leshan Giant Buddha, Stone Buddha statue in Sichuan, China

The stone statue stands 71 meters tall at the meeting point of the Min, Qingyi, and Dadu rivers against a red sandstone cliff face.

The construction started in 713 under Buddhist monk Hai Tong and continued until 803, requiring the labor of thousands of workers throughout multiple generations.

The statue depicts Maitreya Bodhisattva as a monk and contains 1,021 carved stone buns forming the hair pattern on its head.

The entrance fee costs 80 yuan, and visitors can choose between walking paths or boat rides to view the statue from different angles.

The internal drainage system directs water through hidden channels carved within the structure, preventing erosion damage during rainfall seasons.
