Longsheng Rice Terrace

The rice terraces span across mountain slopes between 300 and 1100 meters altitude, forming extensive stepped patterns that follow the natural contours of hills.

Local farmers from Zhuang communities initiated the construction of these agricultural terraces during the Ming Dynasty, completing the project in the Qing Dynasty period.

The terraced fields represent the agricultural practices of Zhuang and Yao ethnic groups, who developed methods to cultivate rice on steep mountain terrain.

Visitors can reach the terraces by taking a bus from Guilin city to Longsheng County, followed by local transportation to specific viewing areas.

The terraces display different colors throughout seasons: water-filled mirrors in spring, green plants in summer, golden rice in autumn, and white frost in winter.
