Sanbaishan, Mountain forest park in Anyuan County, China
Sanbaishan is a forest nature park spanning large areas at the watershed between Gong River and Dong River, reaching an elevation of about 1,165 meters (3,822 feet). The area is accessed through marked trails and viewing platforms that lead to natural rock formations and waterfalls.
The mountain was designated as a national forest park in 1993 and later became a provincial scenic area a few years afterward. It gained further national recognition in 2002 when it received the status of a national scenic area.
The mountain displays ancient rock inscriptions, including characters meaning 'Dong River Source' left by a high-ranking state official. These historical markings reflect how people have viewed this location as a meaningful place over time.
The mountain keeps cool temperatures year-round, so layered clothing works well for changing conditions. The viewing platforms provide good stopping points for photos and rest breaks while exploring.
A striking waterfall known as the First Waterfall of Dong River plunges about 120 meters (394 feet) and is framed by steep cliffs covered with ancient trees. This natural spectacle stands out as a major highlight for visitors exploring the mountain.
