St. Joseph's Church

St. Joseph's Church is a Catholic worship space on Garden Road with Gothic Revival architecture distinguished by detailed stained-glass windows showing biblical scenes. The building displays crafted stone and wooden details that become visible as you enter the space.

This church was founded in 1871 but its original structure was damaged in a typhoon just 3 years later. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1876 in its current form.

The church serves the Filipino community on Sundays, where you can hear prayers and songs in Tagalog mixed with English. People gather here to celebrate their faith and cultural traditions together in the heart of the city.

The church sits on Garden Road and is easy to reach on foot since the area is well connected by public transport. It is better to visit before or after services when the space feels more open.

This church is among the few remaining Catholic buildings from the colonial period still standing in Hong Kong. Its survival stands out because many other structures from that era have been demolished or replaced.
