Jilin Provincial Museum, Provincial museum in Changchun, China
Jilin Provincial Museum is a major collection on Renmin Street with multiple exhibition halls displaying finds from ancient times through modern Chinese history. The halls contain around 120000 objects spanning different historical periods of the region.
The museum was founded in 1951 in Jilin city and later relocated to Changchun. After several moves, it has been at its current location since 2016.
The collections display works from ancient kingdoms and calligraphy from the Song Dynasty that shaped artistic traditions in the region. Visitors can observe how these creative practices remain visible through the displayed pieces.
The museum offers free admission and is centrally located in the city, making it easy to reach. Visitors should note that access is not available on Mondays and should allow enough time for the various exhibition halls.
The building stands on the grounds of Emperor Puyi's former palace, the last Qing Dynasty emperor. This location brings together two important chapters of Chinese history in one place.
