Kwong Lam Court, Public housing estate in Siu Lek Yuen, Hong Kong
Kwong Lam Court is a public housing estate in the Siu Lek Yuen area of Sha Tin, Hong Kong, made up of three residential towers named Hing Lam House, Mau Lam House, and Fook Lam House. The blocks are connected by shared pathways and sit on sloped ground on the edge of the district.
The three blocks were completed in 1990 as part of the second phase of the Sha Tin New Town development. This expansion was one of the largest housing programs Hong Kong carried out to accommodate the fast-growing population in its new towns.
The name Kwong Lam Court, like many public housing estates in Hong Kong, uses characters associated with good fortune and prosperity. Each of the three blocks follows the same tradition, carrying names that reflect the values commonly chosen for residential communities in the city.
The estate is within walking distance of bus stops with connections to different parts of Hong Kong, including Kowloon City and Tsing Yi Ferry. Supermarkets and schools are nearby, making the area easy to navigate for everyday needs.
Unlike most public housing in the Sha Tin area, this complex was built on natural sloping ground rather than reclaimed land. This means the three blocks are arranged at different elevations on the hillside, giving the site a layered look that stands out from the flat estates nearby.
