Telgte

Telgte is a town situated on the Ems River in Warendorf District, approximately 12 kilometers east of Münster. The town center combines Gothic-style buildings with contemporary municipal structures, creating a streetscape where older architecture meets modern construction.

The town was granted city rights in 1238 and joined the Hanseatic League in 1469, establishing itself as a key trading hub between the North and Baltic Seas. This membership in the merchant league defined its economic importance and trading networks for centuries.
