Schkeuditz

Schkeuditz is an administrative town in the Nordsachsen region that stretches along the White Elster river, connecting various residential areas with green spaces. The town covers about 79 square kilometers across terrain ranging between 91 and 148 meters in elevation.

The settlement was first documented as 'scudici' in 981 and grew from a medieval farming community into a regional administrative center. Over centuries, the town expanded through its strategic location and administrative role.

The town sits directly next to Leipzig/Halle Airport and is crossed by the A9 and A14 autobahns, making it an important transport hub. Good connections by both public transport and car make the town easy to reach.

In 1936, Germany's first cloverleaf interchange was built here, a milestone in highway infrastructure history. This structure was an innovative solution for safe highway crossings, long before such designs became standard elsewhere.
