Kocherbach, Rural settlement in Wald-Michelbach, Germany
Kocherbach is a rural settlement in the Odenwald region situated in a valley at about 383 meters elevation. The village lies northeast of Wald-Michelbach and is surrounded by forests.
The settlement was first documented in 1320 under the name Kochelbach. It later fell under the rule of Kurmainz and was assigned to the Hartenroder jurisdiction in 1568.
The settlement's name references the waterways that flow through the region. Today visitors notice mainly the rural structure and how the few buildings are scattered along the local paths.
The village sits on several hiking trails through the Odenwald forests and connects by road directly to the center of Wald-Michelbach. Visitors can explore the area on foot or use the nearby forest paths.
The settlement underwent several administrative mergers and was temporarily part of the municipality of Affolterbach. These boundary shifts continue to shape the regional administrative structure today.
