Schloss Agathenburg

Schloss Agathenburg is a two-story Baroque residence featuring symmetrical wings and ornate architectural elements in northwest Germany. Inside are exhibition spaces displaying regional art collections, while a sculpture garden with contemporary works lies adjacent to the main building.

General Hans Christoph von Königsmarck built this residence in 1655 following his military victories during the Thirty Years War. The building later transformed into a museum and cultural venue, preserving its role as a significant regional landmark.

The château hosts theatrical performances, concerts, and musical events throughout the year, using its rooms and courtyards as intimate performance spaces.

The estate is accessible by car and offers parking for visitors on the grounds. Parts of the property and gardens can be explored outdoors, so weather protection is recommended.

The sculpture garden blends traditional design elements such as boxwood hedges and rose plantings with contemporary artworks. This combination creates an unexpected conversation between historical garden design and modern artistic expression.
