Alte Burg Penzlin, Medieval castle in Penzlin, Germany.
The stone castle features a Gothic cross-vaulted knight's hall and a kitchen with a 12-meter-high chimney flue within its centuries-old walls.
Built around 1220 for the Princes of Werle, the castle became a fief of the von Maltzahn family in 1501 and sustained damage during the Thirty Years War.
The castle museum contains exhibits about witch trials in Mecklenburg, documenting nearly 4,000 cases from the early modern period in the region.
The castle opens daily from May through August between 10:00 and 18:00, while winter hours run from November through March on weekends from 13:00 to 16:30.
The museum focuses on everyday magic practices and witch prosecutions, displaying artifacts and documents from medieval German judicial proceedings against suspected practitioners.
