Ganter Brewery

Ganter Brewery is a brewing facility in southern Freiburg that spreads across multiple buildings along Schwarzwaldstrasse. The complex combines a renaissance-era structure with modern production areas that work together as a functioning beer production center.

Louis Ganter founded the operation in 1865 and moved it to its current location in 1875. The facility underwent reconstruction after World War II damage and has continued operating since then.

The name comes from its founder and connects deeply to Freiburg's brewing heritage. Visitors experience this local beer culture directly when tasting traditional styles in the heritage rooms.

Visitors can join guided tours of the facility and taste fresh beer in a historic building on the grounds. The location is easy to access and also offers direct purchase of products at the site.
