Altensteiner Park

The Altenstein Park spans 160 hectares across steep terrain, featuring natural rock formations, ancient trees, and numerous architectural elements on multiple hillside levels.

In 1798, Duke George I of Saxe-Meiningen initiated the park's creation, which was later transformed into an English-style landscape garden under Hermann von Pückler-Muskau's guidance.

The park houses significant structures including the Knight's Chapel, Devil's Bridge, and Chinese Pavilion, reflecting architectural styles from different historical periods.

Visitors can explore more than 20 kilometers of pathways throughout the park, with main entrances located at Altenstein Cave, Katzenkopf parking area, and Kisseler Street.

The park features the Luisenthal waterfall system, a collection of interconnected water features integrated into the natural rock formations of the landscape.
