The Botanischer Garten Karlsruhe extends over 5 hectares, featuring collections of Mediterranean, tropical, and desert plants from different climatic zones worldwide.
Founded in 1808 by Margrave Karl Wilhelm of Baden-Durlach, the garden includes three plant houses constructed between 1853 and 1857 by architect Heinrich Hübsch.
The garden functions as a research center and educational facility, offering guided tours and workshops that promote botanical science understanding.
Located adjacent to Schlossgarten castle gardens at Hans-Thoma-Straße 6, the botanical garden welcomes visitors every day except Mondays with an entrance fee.
The garden houses rare tree specimens planted during the 19th century and features specialized exhibitions of cacti and succulents in the reconstructed Camellia House.
