Rotenburg an der Fulda

Located in the narrowest part of the Fulda valley, Rotenburg features colorful half-timbered buildings situated along both banks of the Fulda River.

The settlement originated around Rodenberg Castle, built by Thuringian Landgraves, and received its first documented mention as a town in 1248.

Bronze sculptures throughout the town, including the Frog King in the castle park, connect Rotenburg to Germany's rich fairy tale tradition.

The town center contains ten Evangelical churches, two Catholic churches, numerous shops, and the Renaissance-style Schloss Rotenburg palace complex.

The ARS NATURA art hiking trail presents artistic installations in surrounding forests, combining natural landscapes with contemporary outdoor exhibitions.
