The Theater im OP operates in a converted former operating room of the University Medical Center, featuring two elongated audience stands facing each other.
The theater opened in 1984 when the German Department's drama section transformed an old anatomy auditorium into a performance venue at the University of Göttingen.
Each year, the theater presents 12 original productions and numerous guest performances, engaging over 250 participants in acting, directing, and technical roles.
Located at Käte-Hamburger-Weg 3, the theater offers student-rate tickets and maintains regular performances throughout the academic year with a capacity of 120 seats.
