Auersberg is a 757-metre mountain in the Rhön, rising immediately north of Hilders in eastern Hesse. Its wooded summit and slopes lie within the Hessian Rhön nature park and biosphere reserve. On a spur at 589 metres on the southwestern slope stand the ruins of Auersburg Castle, built before 1120.

The Auersberg near Hilders is not connected to the Wildflecken military range; that range lies near the Großer and Kleiner Auersberg in the Bavarian Rhön. The ruin retains high perimeter walls with loopholes, a cellar, and remains of a tower, ditch, and rampart.

The Main-Werra-Weg of the Rhön Club and the trail Der Hilderser cross the western slope and the saddle leading to the Auersburg spur. In the castle ruin stands a memorial to the Rhön poet Dr. Julius Türck. The Auersberg near Hilders is not the Großer or Kleiner Auersberg near Wildflecken.

Multiple trails wind up the mountain from parking areas at different access points around the base. The paths are accessible year-round, though the season from late spring through early autumn offers the best hiking conditions.

On a spur of the mountain at 589 m stand the ruins of Auersburg Castle, built before its first mention in 1120. High perimeter walls with loopholes, a cellar, and remains of a tower, ditch and rampart survive; a covered viewing platform sits on the west corner of the wall, and a memorial inside honours the Rhön poet Julius Türck.
