Lookout tower Friedrichshafen, Steel observation tower in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
Lookout Tower Friedrichshafen is a steel observation tower standing 22.25 m (about 73 ft) tall on elevated ground above Lake Constance. From the top platform, visitors look out over the lake, the city of Friedrichshafen, and the mountains on the far shore.
The tower was built as part of Friedrichshafen's development of its waterfront area over recent decades. It was intended to give visitors a way to experience the city's position on the lake from above.
Walkers and photographers come to the tower to take in the view over Lake Constance and the Alps in the distance. The platform draws people who want an open view over the surrounding landscape without any obstruction.
The tower is easy to reach on foot from several walking paths along the lake. Clear weather makes the views much farther, but the site is worth visiting in any season.
The steel structure reflects light differently depending on the time of day, so the tower always looks slightly different from one visit to the next. Early morning visits often catch a softer light over the water that midday visits rarely offer.
