Kloster Löwental is a Dominican monastery near Friedrichshafen that includes a Baroque church from the 17th century and former service buildings. The complex sits close to Lake Constance and still shows the layout of a medieval monastic operation.

The monastery began in the mid-1200s and was first called Himmelwonne before taking its current name. After secularization in the early 1800s, the complex lost its religious role and was used for military purposes.

The nuns' daily routine included study in the monastery library, which burned down in 1634; only two manuscripts from Löwental survive today. The monastery also ran a pharmacy whose income swelled its estates to 64 tenant farms by 1695. The name Löwental replaced the original Himmelwonne in 1253.

Only the Trautenmühle mill and part of the monastery wall survive, along with the Gasthaus "Zum Klosterwirt"; the convent buildings themselves were demolished or converted into farmsteads after 1812. Look for these remains in the Löwental district on the Rotach, near the northern shore of Lake Constance outside Friedrichshafen's centre.

The monastery received land grants from the Habsburg family and operated its own grain mill called Trautenmühle. This economic success allowed the community to prosper for many centuries.
