St. Ignaz, Church building in Mainz, Germany.

The red sandstone facade of St. Ignaz features gray sandstone figures, including the statue of St. Ignatius of Antioch at its entrance point.

Construction of St. Ignaz took place between 1763 and 1774, replacing an older church that had been integrated into the Mainz city wall since 1200.

The ceiling frescoes illustrate the life and death of Saint Ignatius, painted by Johann Baptist Enderle and restored multiple times through centuries.

The church contains a classicist organ case from 1774 above the main entrance, while the current pipe organ dates from 1837.

A crypt beneath the church holds the remains of clergy, parish members, and the original craftsmen who built the structure.
