Rheinpark, Urban park in Deutz, Germany
Rheinpark is a green space along the Rhine between the Deutz and Mülheim neighborhoods. It features walking paths, fountains, playgrounds, a narrow gauge railway, and a café.
The site was rebuilt from rubble after World War II and opened as a park in 1957. The garden show held in that year attracted many visitors.
The park takes its name from the river it borders and serves visitors daily as a place for walking and lingering by the water. The willow and poplar trees shape the landscape and evoke the natural floodplain environment.
The park is easy to reach and offers many ways to explore - you can walk, ride the narrow gauge railway, or simply sit and watch the water. There are picnic spots and play areas for children of all ages.
The park holds an open-air theater called Tanzbrunnen, used for concerts and performances. This theater is connected to the Cologne Zoo across the river by a cable car system.
