Bodenschneidhaus, Mountain hut in Bavarian Prealps, Germany
Bodenschneidhaus is a mountain hut situated at 1353 meters on the southern ridge of Bodenschneid near Schliersee. It provides overnight accommodation for hikers exploring the surrounding trails through the region.
The German Alpine Club established this mountain refuge in 1916 as a base for organized mountaineering. This marked the start of systematic hiking development in the Mangfall mountain range.
The hut offers traditional Bavarian hospitality where visitors gather to share meals and stories after their mountain walks. The communal dining style creates a relaxed atmosphere where hikers from different backgrounds meet naturally.
The hut is reachable from Fischhausen-Neuhaus station following forest paths along the Dürrnbach valley. Most hikers need about two hours to reach the location from the trailhead.
From the peaks around the hut, hikers can see three large lakes spread across the surrounding landscape. This location offers visitors a chance to observe different water bodies and their valleys from a single elevated viewpoint.
