Brentanobad, größtes Freibad in Frankfurt am Main
Brentanobad is an outdoor swimming pool in the Praunheim district of Frankfurt, set within a green area with lawns and trees. It has an adult pool, a shallow children's pool with a small slide, volleyball courts, a large sandbox, and a snack kiosk.
Brentanobad opened in the 1950s and quickly became a popular summer spot for families across Frankfurt. The site has been renovated several times over the decades but has kept its original layout and role in the neighborhood.
The name Brentanobad comes from the Brentano family, a well-known Frankfurt family from the 18th and 19th centuries. On summer afternoons, people from across the neighborhood lay out on the grass and spend hours by the water, giving the place a relaxed and local feel.
The pool is easy to reach by public transport, and the grounds have wide paths and ramps for wheelchair access. On warm weekends it fills up quickly, so arriving early in the day gives you more choice of where to sit on the grass.
On some summer evenings, Brentanobad hosts open-air film screenings on the grounds, drawing visitors who come just for the films rather than the water. This turns the pool area into a social gathering spot that goes well beyond its daytime purpose.
