Burg Ravensberg

Burg Ravensberg is a stone fortress built on a hillside in Borgholzhausen, featuring medieval architecture with substantial stone walls and towers. The fortifications show how such strongholds were designed to defend the surrounding lands.

The fortress was founded around 1080 as a residence for the Counts of Ravensberg. Over time it transformed from a family stronghold into an administrative center that helped govern the surrounding territory.

Beneath the fortress lies a medieval well that descends approximately 104 meters deep, showcasing the engineering skill of the period. The well is now lit up, allowing visitors to appreciate this hidden achievement.
