Burg Schell-Pyrmont, Medieval fortress ruins in Bad Pyrmont, Germany.
The castle remains stand on an artificially flattened mountain spur, protected by a 20-meter wide and 13-meter deep moat on the mountain side.
The Pyrmont county emerged in 1184 following Henry the Lion's deposition, when Archbishop Philip I of Heinsberg acquired the lordships of Löwensen and Oesdorf.
The castle grounds contain architectural elements from different periods, including a watchtower and remnants of a round tower at the northeast edge.
The castle site features a rectangular main structure measuring 67 by 75 meters, surrounded by a wall reaching heights of up to 1.5 meters.
In 1824, Prince Georg Heinrich von Waldeck-Pyrmont constructed the Schellen Tower using materials from the original castle structure.
